Your email list can launch your business and help you achieve your biggest dreams. It’s the key to a long lasting and successful business. However, some people struggle to build their list. Others struggle to make money from their list. Here are seven tips to build an email list that brings results.

1. Make them an offer they can’t refuse. The best way to motivate someone to sign up for your email list is to make them an offer they can’t refuse. We’re talking about a super valuable giveaway. For many online marketers information products are a good motivating giveaway.

eBooks, reports, online courses and even videos or audios are a good list building tool. They provide the subscriber with instant gratification. And when the freebie is a top quality item, they’re sure to remain an avid subscriber. This means subsequent emails sent to them will be opened, read and acted upon.

2. Make sure your offer is strongly related to your niche. Some people make the mistake of offering freebies that don’t strongly correlate to their niche business or goal. For example a fitness trainer may offer a free report on how to eat for fat burning. However, their website is otherwise devoted to fitness training exercises.

People interested in fat burning are going to download the report but they may not necessarily be interested in fitness training or exercises. You want to draw the subscribers who will be interested in also buying your products and returning to your website.

3. Connect and network. One of the best ways to build an opt in list is to network. Get out, shake hands literally. Pass out business cards. Participate on social networking feeds and include a website link on your profile and in some posts. Participate on blogs and industry forums. The more places you visit and the more people you meet the more traffic you’ll drive to your website opt-in form.

4. Build partnerships to build your list. Partnerships with relevant businesses can be a powerful way to grow an effective email list. For example, an information website about pet grooming and a website that sells pet grooming supplies might benefit from cross promoting one another’s list.

5. Article marketing. Article marketing accomplishes a number of business building tasks. It can also be used to drive strategic traffic to an opt-in page or squeeze page. However, when using article marketing be sure to:

a. Write a top notch article that makes people want to read more.
b. Offer a compelling and relevant giveaway to motivate an opt-in
c. Link to your squeeze page from your article and/or author’s resource box.

6. Strategic PPC. Finally, consider creating highly specific and targeted PPC campaigns to drive traffic to your opt-in page. Advertise the giveaway. Test and track your ads for success.

7. Make sure your opt in form is placed in a prominent position on your website. Consider testing and tracking various locations to see which location works best. And make sure to follow up with your subscribers. There’s no point in building a great opt-in list if you’re not going to use it!

One of the most common mistakes new Internet marketers make is in waiting to build a list. This is a task you should be doing from day one – without excuse. There are many autoresponder tools you can use, but one of the most popular ones is Aweber.

Aweber is a newbie-friendly autoresponder system that’s affordable for anyone. At under twenty dollars per month, you can build a list of loyal prospects and customers so that once your own info product is ready, you’ll be able to blast an announcement and profit from your list building efforts.

Once your account is set up, you simply create a list (you can have multiple ones in one account), and you insert the code for the list building opt in form into your website. The form can ask for the subscriber’s name, email address, or other information.

Aweber will then send the subscriber a confirmation email ensuring that they’re the ones who actually signed up for the list. After they confirm their subscription, they’ll begin receiving whatever emails you’ve queued up in the follow up email autoresponder system.

You can also, at any time, use the broadcast feature in Aweber to send out an email to your list. You can send out the same message to multiple lists or exclude certain lists if you prefer.

Aweber has many tutorials online that help you use their system, but you’ll want to learn the nuances of what it takes to get visitors to your site to actually fill in the opt-in form and take the next step to receive your messages.

List building is usually done by giving away something free. You can offer a free short report, or promise to email them a weekly newsletter. You have to understand that someone trusts you enough to give you their personal contact information, so you have to make it worthwhile for them.

There are many great list building guides and courses online. One of the best list builders you can learn from is Jimmy Brown, but he’s not the only one. People build lists in many different ways.

You’ll want to test and track your efforts and then tweak them to make sure you’re gathering as many names as possible. Make sure they’re not random names and email addresses, however – you want highly targeted subscribes who are likely to convert into sales at a later date.

I have been using Aweber for over a year now and I have had no problems what so ever, If you are starting youronline business and plan on using email marketing than I highly recommend Aweber as your first choice.

When you are building your business online, you must be able to build assets if you want to quit your job.

Allow me to explain:
A 9-5 job is only short term income. It can be a lot or a little, but fundamentally it is still short term… Why? Because the moment you stop working, you stop making money immediately!
Your boss may tolerate your laziness for a few days but if you don’t put in the hours, you will never get anymore pay whether it is weekly, daily or monthly pay! If you keep on trading time for money, you will never be free from your job!
Online assets are different. Here are a few principles that you can apply to your online mentality:

* Leveraging on the Internet: You can draw in traffic from search engines or viral marketing.

* Leveraging on other Internet marketers. You do not need to build a mailing list if you have created a fantastic product that will keep customers buying and affiliates selling over and over again.

* Leveraging on your mailing list. The money is definitely in the list. It takes 15-30 minutes to write a proper E-mail to your mailing list. The great thing about E-mail marketing is you will take the same time to mail your list regardless if your list has 100 people or 100,000 people

* Leveraging on your reputation online: A blogger may start with no RSS subscribers, but the more you blog and the more you network, you will be blogging for the same effort but with more people reading your blog (and you will be able to monetize from the traffic!)

* Fire Your Boss And Join The Internet Marketing Revolution!

Leveraging on outsourced work. If you are making good money, you will be able to outsource your work to other people and spend more time on marketing your products (hence, making more money!)

Cheers!
